Intro to Hunting Rifle

About this Course:

Firearms are not just for protection and sport, they are also a great tool to help put food on the table. Whether it is just to have fresh meat in your house, or a SHTF situation where you need food, understand how to track, hunt, and ethically kill an animal takes skill and practice. For this course we will spend half of the day in the classroom and the second half on the range.

  • Rifle Basics
  • Caliber selection
  • Additional Gear Selection
  • What animal should I hunt?
  • Basic Legalities
  • Deer/Rabbit/Squirrel Shot Placements/Anatomy
  • Animal Dangers (Signs of bad meat and physical dangers while hunting)
  • Basic Tracking
  • Understanding your Scope/Creating Dope Card (Max 200yds)
  • What shooting position is right for you?
  • How to move without being seen or heard

 

Equipment required:

  • Rifle (lever action, bolt action, semi-auto – caliber does not matter)
  • 50 Rounds of Ammo
  • Hearing Protection
  • Eye Protection
  • Comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty.
  • Closed toe shoes
  • Scope Dope Card or Small Notebook and Pen/Pencil
  • Please have notetaking materials available.  You will want to take notes.

 

Prerequisites:

Basic understanding of firearm safety

Course Notes:

This course will get you started on putting fresh food on the table. It will be fast paced in order to get through all the information. Be on time and be ready to learn!
