Defensive Handgun Level 1 (Ladies Only)

About This Course:

This is our standard level 1 course, offered in a ladies only setting.  While we believe intermediate and advanced training should be co-ed, sometimes just starting out it is good to be in a setting where many of you have the same types of concerns and challenges when carrying your firearm.  This course seeks to offer that environment.

Many people think they know how to operate a handgun or to shoot accurately.  However, do you know how to rapidly deploy your handgun in a stressful situation, make a successful hit, reload your weapon, and perform them all within 3 seconds?

If you are considering carrying a handgun for personal defense, or just want to keep one in your nightstand, this is a vital course for you.  Regardless of how many rounds you have fired at your local range, you will learn how to use your handgun in real world situation.

This course is designed for those who have a basic understanding of handguns, but want to learn how to utilize it in a defensive situation.

Course Topics:

• Range Safety
• Refresher on Essentials (Body Foundation, Grip, Sight Alignment, etc)
• Drawing from Concealment / Holster
• After Action Drills
• Ammunition Management and Reloads
• Malfunctions
• Follow-up Shots
• Safe Dry-Fire Practice Methods and Drills

Required Equipment:

• Semi-automatic Handgun
• Extra Magazine (also bring a magazine holster if you utilize one)
• Holster (No SERPA Retention Holsters)
• Approximately 100 rounds of ammunition
• Eye and Ear protection

It is strongly recommended you have your own handgun and holster for this class.  If you do not, please contact us and we can arrange for you to rent a handgun and borrow a holster.

All participants should bring ear and eye protection and dress appropriately for the weather.

Required Prerequisites:

You must know how to properly load your weapon, operate the slide action (and any safeties), Understand sight alignment and trigger control.  If you are brand new to handguns or feel you need more training in the basics, please sign up for the Basic Handgun course prior to attending this course.
