Prolonged Field Medical Care (PFMC) About This Course: In the United States we are blessed with usually having timely access to hospitals and advanced life support treatment. Even in the remote areas, as long as we can establish communications and provide a location we can generally expect to get transport relatively quickly. In remote survival situations where you are unable to communicate due to loss of cellular coverage, in natural disaster areas where cellular or radio transmission towers are destroyed, or in foreign countries with less professional responders you may find yourself having to care for a wounded person beyond the normal timeframe. This course is based on the Military Special Operations Primary Field Care program for trauma patients. It introduces the students to techniques and strategies beyond TCCC to reduce mortality in the absence of appropriate medical or surgical care when in an austere and resource constrained environment.
